Faith - New necklace

Greetings!

I've got a new necklace and earrings set to show you today - it's called Faith. It ended up being vaguely crucifix style, hence the name. It's available in three gems - Ruby, Emerald and Black Diamond (my favourite!).

Matching earrings are included. Available in Mod/Copy from Marketplace (Ruby, Emerald, Black Diamond, demo) or in Mod/Copy and Mod/Transfer from my store in Gisborne.

Discount Floor!

Quick post today (two posts in two days, it's a record!) just to let you know that I've added a discount section to my store. The top floor is now filled with stuff all L$25 and under (L$25 for necklaces, L$15 for bangles and rings). There's loads of stuff up there, in all kinds of gemstone varieties, all with Modify and Transfer permissions.

More Partnership Rings!

Hello! I've got some new partnership rings to show you today. First up are the solitaire ones:

Each features a large square diamond as the focal point, with smaller square gems on the shoulders of the ring. The female version has the main diamond set higher up than the male. This set is available in five different gemstone versions - the two gems closest to the main stone are the ones that change. Choose from diamond (main pic with the two ring boxes), emerald (male version shown), ruby (female version shown), sapphire or amethyst.

I can do other gemstones on request, just IM me inworld.

The second set are the two-tone partnership rings:

Just the single version of these - a simple gold band with a contrasting narrower band of white gold surrounding it. The two look similar, but the female version is slightly narrower.

All of these rings are available in separate male and female versions, so you can mix and match. Modify/copy versions are available from the SLMarketplace, or you can get both Modify/Copy and Modify/Transfer from my inworld store.

Oh, and just so you know, all the above pics are straight from SL snapshots, just with borders and text added. Love the shadows! (even if I can't move while they are enabled.. damn they look good!)

Final note for today.. I've redesigned the store a bit. Added stairs and taken out the teleport system. Hopefully people will realise there is more than one floor now :D

Hello! A little note to show you the new set of partnership rings that I've just put out in my store (would have been sooner, but SL decided to mangle the permissions on all the mens versions so that I couldn't even modify my own creations, grrrr!)

I've decided to sell these seperately, so you can mix and match the male & female ones. They are available in five gemstones (amethyst, emerald, ruby, sapphire and pink rhodium), Modify/Copy from SL Marketplace, or Modify/Copy & Modify/Transfer from my inworld store.

More risque than usual...

Hello! I've made a few new things, which will probably appeal to the Gor & D/s community rather than mainstream.. this is more a diversion for me to keep me interested in creating rather than a direction change, I will be making more classic stuff soon (have a pretty choker necklace on my workspace as I type, in fact!).

So.. first we have a basic ring collar, available in male & female versions. It's fashioned from black leather, with a large silver O-ring at the front, and silver studs decorating it all around. It comes unscripted, but is OpenCollar ready (meaning that I've set it up so that a leash will look like it's attaching to the O-ring rather than the inside of your neck).

Available from my Gisborne store, and from SLMarketplace (hopefully!). Free demos are available inworld. Once the marketplace has settled down I'll add demos there too.

Second, I present body chains! Kind of a bikini made of jewellery, but with less coverage *grins* Not for the faint hearted! Pic has modesty hearts to try and keep the blog PG.

I built these chains around Cailyn's avatar, which is fairly petite. I've tried them on a few different shapes, and found that they really didn't fit avatars with curvier hips. So, I grabbed an alt, gave her some extra junk in her trunk, and modified them to fit her too. The end result is two bottom versions in each pack, the idea is one should fit (although you may still need to resize and/or reposition a little). The top part seemed to fit most shapes with a bit of resizing, so I left that one alone. Anyway, there's a free demo to try in the store to test out.

The chains come in 9 different versions - 4 gold chains with gemstones, and 5 silver chains with pastel stones. These are the ones I felt looked the best. If anyone wants a different combo, I'm happy to oblige!

Body chains aren't available on the marketplace yet.. I'm a bit wary of adding new stuff while LL is still migrating and twiddling things.

All the above items are available in Modify/Copy or Modify/Transfer versions, just choose which from the vendor when you buy. I don't use resize scripts in my jewellery.

Quick update

The Accessory Fair 2010 is over now, so all the items I released for it (Oval Dress Rings, Corset Collar and Musette Set) are now available in my Gisborne store.

All available in both Modify/Copy and Modify/Transfer versions. More stuff coming soon.. I'm playing with Sculpt Studio in-world lately and having much fun! Oh, and the store had a facelift, it looked a bit drab before so hopefully now it feels more opulent!

Accessory Fair 2010 - Oval Dress Rings

Last of the new releases for today, the Oval Dress Rings. I think I've mentioned before that I love big chunky rings in RL - I was burgled recently and they took most of my collection, which was heart-breaking :( However, it does mean I can go out and buy lots of new ones now!

Anyway, back to the rings. Big oval stones, surrounded by diamonds. Big enough to be noticed without being gaudy. What's not to like? *grins*

All five are available at the Accessory Fair until 27th March, after that I'll move them to my store. Mod/copy only for now.

Accessory Fair 2010 - Corset Collar

Yep.. another collar. I happen to like them!

This one is laced up at the front (hence the corset name) and is scripted to colour-change the trim and the little heart dangle. I've only used a single script for the colour change, so it should be low lag. There are 8 colours to chose from, hopefully that should suit most things!

Again, the Corset Collar is only available at the Fair while it is open, after that I will move it into my store and put it in my usual vendors. So, for now, it's mod/copy only. There is a demo available next to the box in my Fair store.

Accessory Fair 2010 - Musette Set

As you probably know by now, the Accessory Fair 2010 is up and running until the 27th March. I have a store in the fair (link), and I'm releasing a few Fair exclusives!

The first of these is Musette.

Musette is an art-deco inspired set - the theme of the Fair is Broadway Nights, which just suggested art-deco to me! Musette features black enamel pieces studded with diamonds, and surrounded by gold. Simple, but striking. The set contains a necklace, earrings and a bangle. Only available at the fair for now, but I will move it to my store once the fair is over. Currently only available in mod/copy. A free demo of the necklace is available in my store at the fair.

Kitty Collars

Hi! Long time no see *grins*

I actually put these collars out a while back, then completely forgot to blog them. So here goes. Simple white leather collars ( I call them kitty collars because I go neko, but they'd work for most animals) with silver mounted gems and a heart shaped padlock. They are unscripted, but fully modify so you can add your own favourite collar scripts if you so desire. Available in pink, red or blue.

Comeback Queen

So... I took a few months break from creating stuff. There were reasons... the whole business of building, setting out store boxes, even dealing with customers (sorry guys!) had become a chore. I lost all inspiration and enthusiasm. So, I stopped doing all the stuff that was bringing me down and concentrated on spending time with friends and having fun.

And now I'm back! I find this cycle happens every few months, hence the post title! *grins*

Master has been ~~nagging me~~ encouraging me to start building again, and for the first time in months I'm actually making things I'm happy to put my name to. I've also branched out a little, making the odd bit of sculpted furniture.

So expect a new release in the next few days, once I've made up all the boxes, listed on XStreet and SLapt, tidied up the store, made demos.. why am I doing this again? I must be mad.. !

Mia Necklaces

Hello folks! Finally got up to date with the last release, so here comes the next one :)

This one is a pretty pendant necklace, called Mia. It comes in two metals, silver or gold, and features a large circular stone surrounded bu curled wires and tiny diamonds. You can't see in the static pic, but the diamonds twinkle slowly (done by moving textures, not bling!). Mia comes in five different flavours, as shown in this pic:

As always, Mia comes in Mod/Copy or Mod/Transfer - just choose which you want when you pay the vendor. The box contains two necklaces, one set up for the spine, one for the chest. New Safari Sets!

Yay, more new stuff! I fancied making a nice chunky necklace, and decided to indulge my love of animal prints at the same time. The result is Safari - a set containing necklace, earrings and bracelet, in either silver or black. The prints are zebra, pink zebra, pink leopard, and.. cow. Not something you'll find wandering the Serengeti, I'll admit.. but I liked it!

As usual, it's available in mod/copy or mod/transfer, just choose which version you want when you pay the vendor. The box includes two necklaces, for spine and chest attachment points. Demos are available in store! (Only at Gisborne for now, I'm off to visit family for the rest of the weekend and I don't have time to update Fuzzy or XStreetSL.)

The Lucky Chair has been updated - I've dropped in a copy of the Silver & Pink Zebra version, plus another set from the wall (Iced Velvet in green - in honour of the upcoming St Patricks day!)

Valentines stuffs

A couple of Valentines themed releases today! First is the cascade set, a pretty silver necklace and earrings featuring a cascade of large open hearts. This is available in either pink, red or white, in mod/copy or mod/transfer (mod/copy only on XStreetSL).

Second, I made a cute little valentines collar (I like to wear a collar in my neko moments!). It's black leather, with silver detailing and buckle, and has a large heart-shaped ruby which nestles in the base of your throat. Again, mod/copy or mod/transfer.

Demos for both items are available in either my Gisborne or Fuzzy store, or if you're a member of my HIPPO group you should have had them land in your inventory already!

Store Update

Soooo.. I've been busy making my Gisborne store more user friendly!

There are now demos available for every necklace, all at L$0. And I've moved every necklace & set into a vendor, so that you now have a choice of getting modify/copy or modify/transfer permissions when you buy an item. Hopefully that will make shopping easier! I haven't done the rings and bangles yet.. that's on my to-do list. They remain mod/transfer for now.

I've also made the store bigger, and brought back out the men's range that I had. Not entirely sure why I took that off sale to start with.. Anyway, it's back.

At the moment, the permission vendors are only available in my Gisborne store.. I'll be updating Fuzzy when I get the chance.

New Necklace

Yay for 'flu! (not really... it sucks. Knocked me out for a good week.)

Anyway. Today's release is called Tulia. Don't know why. Just seemed like a good name. (Can you tell my head isn't right yet?) Tulia has been hanging around my workroom for a few weeks, but I've not been able to make textures I was happy with. Well now I have. And so here it is. It's a pretty, graceful silver chain featuring three large flower designs, in five different pastel shades. White (ok, so that's not really pastel), cherry, teal, lilac and rose. Comes with matching earrings. Mod & Copy, and demos are available in store as usual.

"Queen of the Shadows"

I would like to present to you my contribution to Rezzable's "Killer Designers" Crimson Shadow event, which previews today at 12pm.

This is a huge set, comprising of a necklace, tiara, 2 armbands and a pair of earrings. I took inspiration from the circular theme of Crimson - if you've explored there, you'll know how one vaulted round room leads to another. The idea of this piece was to make the spirals look as if they organically grow .. I hope I achieved it! The colour scheme of Crimson is also reflected in the set - dark black metal settings hold softly glowing marquis cut rubies, with teardrop rubies scattered around for added highlights.

It's hard to show full details in a single box-artwork, so here are a few closeup shots of each piece. Click on them to show the bigger picture.

The set will be available only at Crimson Shadow Rezzable for the duration of the Killer Designers event, after that I will put it up for sale in my stores. There will be a demo version available on the vendor for you to try the set out for fit. All pieces come with modify & copy permissions.

One last thing, I'm away on vacation from 19th October through to 2nd November - so if there are any problems with the "Queen of the Shadows" vendor, please contact Lokum Shilova who is authorised to deal with it in my absence. With that, I'll love you and leave you... see y'all in two weeks!

Killer Designers at Crimson Shadow

A few weeks ago, Rezzable showed the 'Passions of the Black Swan' - (vid) - a collection of fabulous gowns, skins, hair and accessories from some of the hottest designers on the grid. Tuli, Sn@tch, Nomine, caLLie cLine, Philotic Energy.. to name but a few. Basically, the designers had to come up with an item that was inspired by the Black Swan sim.

On Sunday, 19th October, through to November 9th, a new collection will be shown. This time, the fashion is inspired by the Crimson Shadow sim (which has been my favourite place in the world, for many reasons). I was delighted when Lokum asked me to participate in this collection, and so I've been busy the past week or so making something fabulous (I hope!). I can't tell you what yet.. but it's the biggest set I've ever made.

I can't wait to see what the other designers have come up with. Hopefully I'll be getting a sneaky preview when I put my vendor up.. but if it's anything like the Black Swan collection, it will be totally amazing. Fantabulous. Breathtaking.

New Victoriana Sets

Last year some time, I made a set of chokers called Victoriana. They've been one of my more popular items over the last few months. Scroll forward in time now, to a couple of days ago, when I was watching the chat in Fashion Emergency group as I worked on something. I can't remember why I commented, but Scar Ayres piped up and mentioned how much she loved this set. And could I make it in more colours please! So you can blame her for these ones.

I've added three new stones to the original ruby, emerald and amethyst. The first is sapphire, a fab deep blue stone, but everyone knows that! Next is moonstone, which is the creamy off-white one, and finally white quartz, a cloudy pure white stone (and also my favourite of the new bunch). As before, the set contains the choker and matching earrings. Unlike before, it's now Mod/Copy only. I've also put up demo versions of this set in the store. Available in all the usual places (see right hand side for locations).

And because I'm feeling extra nice, I've added the moonstone version to my lucky chair.

To celebrate rebuilding my Gisborne store, I'm having a treasure hunt!

I've hidden 15 jewelry boxes around the store. They are all marked for L$0, if you find one, buy it.

There is a catch! I am the mistress of tiny prims... and also an evil bitch ^_^. The jewelry boxes are everso teeny small... so you'll need patience and lots of camming to find them all!

They contain various stuff.. some current jewelry stock, some older ones.. there's some lingerie and poses in a couple too.

Hunt ends midnight PST on Wednesday 1st October. That should give you chance to find them all.

I've moved the entire Gisborne store up to 300m while I (attempt to) build a new store. Hopefully I've reset the landing points correctly so you shouldn't notice a difference.. but this is SL and things do go pear-shaped. Regularly.

New sculpted rings

If you ever met me in RL, one thing you might notice after a few days is that I love my rings. And I'm not just talking about a plain gold band with a small subtle diamond either. As far as I'm concerned, the bigger the better! It doesn't have to be gold & precious stones either - my collection contains silver, wood, plastic, glass, beaded rings... I'm not fussy! (As an aside, one of my favourite stores to pore over is The Carrotbox - I could quite happily order pretty much anything from there and love it to bits.)

So, now you know where these rings are coming from. They are big, and bold, and eye catching. All the things I love on a finger :) I've done three different stones to start with, all available in gold or silver. I'm not going to post them all, because that would make a huge post and bore you all to death, but here's a couple as samples.

More Adele Necklaces

I hade a request inworld, asking for more subtle colours for my Adele necklace. Subtle? Me? Heh, well, I've tried! I've done darker versions of the red and blue, plus a new rose quartz texture that I'm pretty proud of. Here's a quick pic of the new colours:

The rose quartz looks much better inworld - go and try a demo! Recognise the orange/black one? Yep, it's the same stone I made for Aisha! I thought it looked pretty good here too.

Two more new necklaces

I've been wanting to do another long necklace for a while, and so Adele was born:

I thought about reusing the chain from my heart drop necklaces that I made ages ago, but after working on the pendant, I decided the old chain looked too clunky, so I made a new one. I think the new version looks much slinkier, and more polished overall. So - Adele, a long drop silver chain, with an eye-catching glass donut and suspended flexi chains. It comes in three colours so far - red, black and blue, though I'm happy to take suggestions for others!

The second new release is actually a set, named Aisha. It features orange glass stones, mixed with random silver hoops. I couldn't decide whether to make this a single or double strand, so both are included in the box! The orange texture is actually an attempt at making an amber texture - obviously nowhere near yet, but I really liked the effect so I kept this one. There's matching earrings included too.

Both styles are available now at L$250 (Adele) or L$300 (Aisha), from either of my stores (Gisborne & Fuzzy) or from SLX (Aisha, Adele Black, Adele Blue, Adele Red) or OnRez (Aisha, Adele Black, Adele Blue, Adele Red).

More new necklaces

Two more new necklaces were released last night (would have blogged them straight away, but RL intervened!)

The first is the Crescent necklace. It's made up of sculpted silver cubes, and sculpted stone beads of either turquoise or carnelian. I then added a silver crescent pendant, with a few more smaller stones to tie it back in.

The second necklace is my favourite, and is called Eden. I saw a RL friend wearing one very similar to this, and I just had to make a version for SL! I love the shapes in this one, the mix of small round beads to the large (what do you call that shape anyway?) beads. Hers was a black plastic.. I've textured mine to look like dark wood (and it's come out melting-chocolate colour.. yummy)

All three are available now at L$250 each, from either of my stores (Gisborne & Fuzzy) or from SLX (carnelian, turquoise, eden) or OnRez (carnelian, turquoise, eden).

Demos are available at the inworld stores too.

Yay, new stuffs! Like I mentioned before, I've been playing with baking textures, and this is one that I've come up with. It's a really yummy polished bead effect, so I strung a load of them on a long drop necklace and messed around until I had a look I liked. The finished product:

The pic shows the blue version, which is my favourite, but the necklace also comes in red, purple, black and green. They cost L$250 each, and are available from my stores in Gisborne and Fuzzy, and also on SLX and OnRez. Demo available inworld. It's good to be back creating again!

This blog's been quite for a while, huh? So, a quick update - round about January time, a few things happened which killed my desire to be in SL. My partner left (for RL reasons), I got a new RL job which takes up huge amounts of time, and I got myself addicted to EVE Online *sheepish grin* (BTW, if you play, say hi to Amirylla, that's me! And don't shoot me please!)

The past couple of months I've been flitting in and out of SL, not really achieving much. Mostly shopping and freebie hunting. My inventory is soon going to implode, I just know it. I'd been participating in a thread on SLUniverse called 'Show your style', where we just took pics of whatever outfit we were wearing that day, and where to buy all the bits. From that, I got contacted by Tenshi Vielle, and asked to do pretty much the same kind of posts on her & Iris's blog, Shopping Cart Disco. I've now done a couple of posts there, and it's much fun :) But the urge to create is back (plus I need funds for shopping!)

Also, I've been slowly learning how to make sculpties, and bake textures. I got hold of an old copy of Maya from a work colleague, and I've been happily spending hours playing with nurbs and shaders. I'm still a novice, but I'm learning! And I've come up with one bead texture that I'm really happy with (more on that in another post :)

Finally.. I opened a new store in the Fuzzy sim. If you haven't been there, it's a fantastic cute shopping sim, with lots of little boutiques to browse. It's run by the wonderful Popfuzz, who I had the pleasure of meeting when I rented the spot. We chatted for ages, and she showered me with gifts... I feel loved! lol

Anyway, there we go. A potted update. I'm back. Yay.

His & Hers Valentines Sets

well January was pretty much a washout for me, both in RL and in SL. I managed to spend maybe 10hrs total inworld. bah. anyway, enough moaning.

I'm pleased to announce a new release especially for Valentines Day, commissioned by Rezzable so it's part of the Crimson Shadow collection. I've made matching sets for girls and for guys!

First, the girls - the set costs L$400, and contains a necklace, earrings, ring and a belt. All pieces carry the same double heart design, and it's available in silver & ruby only.

The belt is black leather, with silver studs and fastenings, and features the double heart design all the way around.

Here's a close up of the pendant (click to enlarge it) - I think it's really cute :) The earrings have the same design.

And for the guys, a toned down, more macho (lol) version! The guys set includes a necklace, ring, wrist cuffs and a belt, again with the double heart design. Also L$400. The chain on the guys necklace is bulkier, but a more simple design, and I think it looks pretty good without going into OTT bling.

Guys get a black leather belt too, although theirs is taller and has double rows of studs, and also the matching black leather studded wrist cuffs.

Both sets are available now, exclusively at Crimson Shadow Rezzable. Demos of both sets are available in the store to try before you buy :)

Tomorrow night Crimson Shadow hosts a fashion show, featuring clothing by designers Moxie Polano and Forda Fairlane, and jewellery by yours truely! There is some beautiful clothing going to be on show - there are some georgeous dresses to see! Everything has a gothic theme, and it's all on sale in the galleria behind the catwalk. The show is on 12noon to 2pm, then repeated later at 6-8pm SLT. I'll be at the earlier one hopefully!

I don't normally do fashion posts (mainly because there are a million and one fashion bloggers out there that can do it better than me!) but this I had to share.

For the first time, in nearly five years on SL, I bought a skin fat-pack. I'd seen the blog post from Nephi advertising new skin tones at Stella di Roccia - I'd tried demos of this skin line in the past but they were always too dark for me (I'm pale and interesting in RL - I tend to prefer my avi the same way!), so when I saw new pale skin tones I was so there!

And, wow, what can I say. As far as I'm concerned, absolute perfection. So I bought the lot *grins*

This is me in the Lait skin tone, Lucrezia (cateye liner) makeup. Because I'm not a fashion blogger, you only get to see my face :P And while I'm here, I might as well plug the jewellery, which is one of the sets I made for the Crimson Shadow collection. The beautiful dress comes from there too.

Lately, I've been doing so much work with black and red and silver - I needed a change! My inner pastels are screaming to come out to play *grins* This time of year (it's autumn/fall here) browns and oranges always make an appearance in the fashion world, and so here's my contribution - with a splash of green too!

The first release today is a set - a wooden necklace, bangle and earrings, highlighted with gold accents. I'm really pleased with this set - the green bangle especially - I think my texturing skills have improved no end the past few months. Anyway.. the pics:

Poor, poor neglected blog! Never mind, I'm back again (for a while, at least!). Been very busy lately helping my partner Jimmy get Crimson Shadow launched, then making a jewellery collection for them. I've got a week of dead time before I start my next commission, so I've been making a few bits for my store... yes, there will be an update soon! The Crimson Shadow Collection

A couple of months ago, I was approached by Rezzable Creations and asked to make some jewellery for their vampire themed sim, Crimson Shadow Rezzable. I created 10 sets of gothic styled jewellery and accessories, ranging from headpieces, feathered shoulder decorations, corset style chokers and cuffs to the more traditional lace chokers and blood vials.

They are available in-world only, exclusively at Crimson Shadow Rezzable.

Jewellery Expo 2007

The Jewellery Expo is now open! (yeah, yeah, so I spell jewelry as jewellery - it's the Brit way) All of the best jewellery creators in SL (including me *grins*) gathered together in one sim for a week long festival of all things sparkly and gemmy. Yum! There's also a charity auction and treasure hunt going on during the week.

I've already done a quick tour of the site, picked up tons of freebies (oh my poor inventory!) and marked out the items I want to buy! If you're going along, please please pleeease remove all your attachments, especially AOs and primmy jewellery/shoes/boots/belts/hair whatever, to try and make it as lag free as possible for everyone.

Many thanks to Miriel Enfield for organising the expo, and for being so patient with me while I messed up my stand (twice!).

New choker set!

I'm really not good at keeping up with the blog *grins* I'll try harder, I promise!

Well, it's 4am here (dontcha just love insomnia!?) so please forgive any typos and ramblings. Actually, this is the third attempt at this post, I keep managing to delete half the text somehow..

'Victoriana' is a delicate choker featuring large shiny cabochons (polished unfaceted stones) and a sculptie teardrop.

The teardrop was made using ROKURO, a little freebie sculptie editor designed to produce lathed shapes. It is very simple to use, although limited in what shapes it can produce. I'm currently battling Blender to see if I can master that... I'll be honest though, Blender is beating me hands down!

Anyway, back to the set... it comes with matching dangly teardrop earrings, and is available in Ruby (my favourite, shown above), Amethyst and Emerald. No bling on this one, I didn't feel like it needed it. But it's mod, so feel free to add your own.

Available now from the usual places - Gisborne (inworld), SLX and SLB.

Project Open Letter

Cristiano Midnight (the genius behind SLUniverse and Snapzilla) has written an open letter to Linden Lab, outlining the problems we face on a daily basis, and requesting that they finally be fixed. So far over 3000 SL residents have signed the letter, and it seems that LL are beginning to take notice, organising a town hall to respond to some of the questions.

On hiatus

Oops! over a month since the last blog post. I had an enforced two week break when my internet connection was cut off (luckily I was away camping for half of that), and since then, I've just been bumming around in SL. I don't feel the urge to build anything lately, and the state of SL makes it pretty difficult anyway. Plus, in a weird RL-mirrors-SL kinda way, I've been starting to make jewellery for real! I'm currently experimenting with stone tumbling (collected from the beaches of North Wales) and later this month I'll be going on a lampworking course. Once I get to a point that I'm happy to show my work, I'll post a few pics here (and maybe even eBay links ;)

Iced Velvet

This has to be one of my favourite necklaces. I actually started making this way before Christmas, but it just wasn't coming together right. So I saved all the bits and forgot about it. I was looking through my work in progress folder last week (where I save all my experiments and current projects) and pulled it out again. After a bit of rearranging and tweaking, I ended up with something I'm now really, really happy with :)

'Iced Velvet' is an unusual square linked necklace, with cube beads along it's length. Anyone in my update group may have seen a plea I posted asking for help naming this set - I have terrible trouble coming up with names for things! Anyway, I got some wonderful suggestions, and 'Iced Velvet' from Persian Chevalier just seemed to fit perfectly :)

It comes in both gunmetal and silver, in the 7 colours shown on the poster. The gunmetal looks more casual... silver more dressy ... I love both looks though! Here's the silver/wine pic for comparison:

New bangles

These have been ready to go for a week or so, but I held them back until I had something else to release too. (look! proper product ads! Hooooo!) They are called 'Chunky Cuffs' (I know, I suck at naming, more on that later), and come in polished gold with a choice of 12 different stones. There's so many stones because I couldn't choose which ones I liked the most, so I released the lot. I came to regret that decision 12 box pictures later.

Available now inworld at my Gisborne store, or on SLX. I'll be updating SLB a bit later, I've got 50+ items to upload and my willpower is drained for today.

Lillyane Bangles

Finally, a new set of bangles called 'Lillyane'. These feature *huge* stones, surrounded by tiny diamonds, and look stunning on your wrist. Available in gold and silver, and also in a fab black gunmetal which shows off the stones beautifully!

There's lots of stones to choose from - amber, aquamarine, emerald, opal, pink rhodium and ruby. Box contains sparkle and plain versions as usual.

New Earrings!

On to the new stuff! Made a few sets of earrings - I'll start with my favourite pair :)

These are my Pearl Drop Chain Earrings, they are very long earrings which brush the shoulders and they will look great with a long slinky dress and a fab updo. Only available in silver.

Pirate Hoops! A fun pair of earrings with various different beads, chains and charms attached.

Finally, my Heart Drop Earrings. I forgot about these for Valentine's Day *sheepish grin* so they're coming out now. Available in pink, red and white.

Updates to Edwardian Rings

The next updates are to my Edwardian Engagement Rings. Again, I had a request, this time to make a matching wedding band that could be worn together with the engagement ring after the wedding. I thought this was a great idea, so I created a set, and then added a matching wedding band for the groom too. So now, it's called the Edwardian Engagement & Wedding Ring Set, and is available in the original 5 stones - amethyst, emerald, blue topaz, ruby and sapphire. Emerald shown below.

The box now contains a lot of rings - the original women's engagement ring, a new womans engagement + wedding ring, and a new mans wedding band. Plus sparkly versions of all three for those that like bling. The original engagement rings are still available seperately for those that just liked it as a dress ring.

Updates to Christobel

I've added a few new colours to my Christobel set. I had a request for sapphire, amethyst and jet versions, and so that's what I've added!

My personal favourite is the jet version - black goes with just about anything (except maybe brown) and so it's so versatile. And it looks all shiny, which is never a bad thing!

Sorry about the lack of blogging - RL has taken over again. Just to reassure you all I've not stepped under a bus, walked off a cliff, or anything sinister like that. I missed my 4th rezday in SL (10th march) - oh well, never mind. It's my RL birthday soon (19th), have to make sure I don't miss that one!

I've got a ton of stuff to release, as soon as I've made up 56million box pics (ok, slight exaggeration!) Two new bangle designs, several new earrings, new ring, plus updates of Christobel and my Edwardian Engagement Ring. Hopefully I'll have them out in the next week or so.

I often get chatting with people I meet in my store. Sometimes it's a brand new noob that has crashlanded and wonders where the hell he is, sometimes an older resident that I've heard of via forums or designs, and it's just nice to put a face to names. Sometimes however, it's someone that is just bursting to design and get creative.

I met Riley Rothschild a couple of weeks ago; she told me she was just starting to design her own clothes and we chatted for quite a while. This morning I got a surprise package in my inventory - she's created a new dress based on my Looped set of necklaces... I'm lovin it!

It's a loud 'n' wild print, perfect for crazy parties... the dress has a funky 70's vibe to me, especially with the one-shoulder-asymetric design. I teamed it with my Looped jewellery (of course!), Mischief Bound hair from Playful Kitten, and pinkred Lollies from Shiney Things (although you can't see those in the picture). Skin is my usual Nimbus Sultry Liner from Sin Skins.

The stand is right at the store entrance in Gisborne, and it will only give out gifts to group members (you have to have 'Cailyn's Update Group' as your active group to get it). Edwardian Engagement Rings

The first new release today (which has to rate as one of the most stressful releases I've ever done, thank you SL) is a set of stunning Edwardian Engagement rings. These were actually a commission for a wonderful couple (*waves to Howard & Grace*) - when I saw what they wanted I couldn't resist making it, even though I don't usually do custom work. It's a beautiful big bold gem design, with a tiny contrasting heart on the shank. I really want one of these in real life!!
As you can see, they come in five stones - Emerald, Blue Topaz, Ruby, Amethyst and Sapphire. My personal favourite is the emerald one, which is the one I originally created for Howard and Grace.

Although these are engagement rings, they could easily be modified to wear on the right hand to add a spot of bling to a georgous gown. Not that they bling that much... but as usual there is a sparkly and plain version included.

I'm back inworld and building things - in fact I'm trying to package up two new items right now, only SL isn't playing ball. Things never make it to my inventory, and textures won't upload... what the hell has happened to SL in the few weeks I've been away??

Many thanks to everyone who has IMd asking if I'm ok (and especially thanks to Spike who sent a prim tub of Ben & Jerrys!! <3 <3 ) I'm just about over the flu now, and slowly recovering from the back pains that all the sneezing and coughing brought on. Don'tcha just love winter?

Anyway, I really wanted to have made loads of new sets for Valentines Day, but what with the flu and being unable to sit at the PC for long, nothing much got done. *sighs* Still, like I mentioned, I do have a couple of bits to release, one of which is a group special... but more on that later today!

Mat and I have bought 10km of land in the brand new Gisborne sim (which happens to be the name of the rather *yummy* baddie in Robin Hood) and so Cailyn's will be moving! I'm about halfway through building the new store, then I have to put out all the jewellery... change the LM in around 300 boxes... change the LM in all the SLX and SLB boxes... omg... this may take some time!

It would have been today, but I forgot it was update day. Boo! So this will be released tomorrow instead.

It's the first of my valentine releases, not overly slushy I hope! (slushy releases are coming up ^_^) It's a long drop necklace with a filigree heart pendant, and some dangly chains that I added just a touch of flex to so they sway when you move.

I can honestly say that this was one of the most difficult designs I've ever done. I restarted that damn chain at least four times, plus I had to make several new textures for the flexi chain, the balls, the filigree inset, and I tweaked my gold texture a few times until I was reasonably happy with it. *phew*

I'm including a full length shot so you can see just how long this necklace is.. the end of the flexi chains falls to around waist level (at least on my av, Cailyn is a bit on the short side!)

It will be available tomorrow from all the usual places, in either gold or silver. I didn't add any bling to this, because I really don't think it needs it. And it's modifiable and transferrable, so good for gifting :)

In case you are wondering... hair in the pic is Drew from Panache, skin is Vogue in Pure (Pink - Light) from Celestial Studios, top and jeans are from an outfit called Hellenas by Dazzle, and shoes are Patent MaryJane Ballets from Boing Fromage (and they are sooo cute too!).

New 'Wedding Belles' set released!

Yup, I've done another set specifically designed for weddings, although that doesn't stop you wearing it with evening gowns!

This set is called Layla (I've got that Eric Clapton song in my head right now, no idea why!) and it's made up of white moonstones, tiny diamonds and silver surrounds. Me likes :)

I'll be putting this out later today, in all the usual places, and one lucky person in the update group will be getting a copy!

Modify and transfer OK, and as usual the box will contain a plain version and a subtly sparkling one. Box pic coming up...

First release of the year

I had hoped to get this finished for Christmas, but never mind, better late than never!

No name for this one, I did think to call it 'Antoinette' but I can't spell it the same way twice. So Pearl Choker it remains :)

I've never been a pearl person in RL, but for some reason the idea of a pearl choker appealed. Hence this set! I still wanted some focal point at the throat, so I added a large stone surrounded by tiny diamonds. I think it works rather well.

First pic has been photoshopped, second (box pic) is how it would appear inworld.

Skin in both pics is 'Amie *pale*' from /artilleri/, eyes from Sin Skins. Both hairs from Gurl6 (I'll add the names in an edit, it's past midnight and I'm going to bed soon!)

The pearl choker is available with 8 different stones - amber, amethyst, aquamarine, emerald, moonstone, pink rhodium, ruby and sapphire.

As always, box contains a plain version and one with a small sparkle. Modify & transfer OK.

Well I'm finally back from an extended visit to the family over Christmas, so this is just a quick post to let everyone know I'm alive and kicking!

Three things to mention:

First, I came home to several hundred offline IMs. I'm slowly working my way through them all - if you IMd me over the holidays I will be responding soon, I promise! First priority is gift certificates and help requests, then I'll be doing the rest.

Second, I'd like to send much love to my new baby nephew Aaron, who was born on Christmas day :) Welcome to the world little one, I wish you much joy, happiness and laughter in your life here!

Finally, to all my friends, family, customers.. and everyone! I wish you all a happy and peaceful 2007, and hope you get all you want and desire during this new year.

"Christobel" - Released Today

Finally managed to finish the new necklace & earrings set I blogged about before. I called it 'Christobel' in honour of the season ;) and it looks great with the strappy dresses that you'll be wearing (if you're female; if you're male... well, let's not go there!) to all the xmas parties!

I'd made this entirely out of prims, and it weighed in at around 250. That's a little extravagent even for me, so I took pictures of some of the chains and redid them as textures instead. Now it's a much more reasonable 100ish prims.

I finally made a diamond texture that I'm really happy with (that's been bugging me for months now!) and so Christobel comes in diamond, ruby, emerald, opal and aquamarine. I can do others if you ask nicely *grins*

Christobel comes in Modify/Transfer, and so is perfect for xmas presents. I can also make Modify/Copy versions if you'd prefer.

Today's Preview

So, while the grid is down, I'm attending to my neglected blog :) I've been working on a new necklace set, carefully storing away 57 backup copies before logging out for the update. Here's a pic in progress:

You can get some idea of the way I work looking at this. I plonk Cai on a posing stand, take off all her attachments (anyone peeking in my workshop while I build will see a bald elf, not a pretty sight) and then I start placing the main stones around her neck. Once I've got them more or less where I want, I'll swivel the camera around and adjust stones for the curve of her neckline. Then I'll start adding in all the teeny tiny chain prims (usually in groups of three or four otherwise I'd go insane). When all the chains are done, I'll take Cai off the stand so I can see the whole necklace, tweak any wobbly bits of chain, then I'll link it all together. After that, I'll drag a copy, turn it silver to see how it looks, adjust the textures if needed... and then I start making different gem versions. I've built up a huge library of different gem textures in various shapes, so I can just drag a few out and see how they look.

It's all very absorbing work, and I really have to be in the right frame of mind to do it. But when it happens, I can work for hours without noticing the time passing. It took maybe two hours from the start to get to the pic above, it would have been longer but I reused shapes from a previous necklace. Why reinvent the wheel? *grins*

It's that time again!

It's Wednesday, so it must be update day! The grid hasn't recovered from the last one and yet here's a new update to create more havok ^H^H^H^H fix all those annoying bugs.

My personal favourites:

The missing water. Cute though he is, my poor dolphin looks a little lost without his river to splash around in.
The 'why are all my attachments in my crotch?' bug after teleporting. Most amusing.
And while we're on the subject of teleports... tp'ing between estates is still borked.
Group IMs failing. While sometimes I appreciate the peace and quiet, I'd rather use busy mode for that. I'm paranoid that no-one wants to talk to me.
The skintight trousers (pants) look. So Flashdance, so 80's, so not attractive!

*Sigh* I could go on... but I won't. For all it's quirks, I still love SL. After nearly four years I've learnt to shrug off all the annoyances and quibbles and smile quietly to myself - the day they really get to me will be the day I go out and buy WOW :)

... the creative urge has vanished. Again. I've made a few rings, but I'm not happy enough with them to loose them on the world. So in my inventory they will stay. On a more positive note, Jaqueline <3 persuaded me to redo the store (it didn't take much persuasion, I haven't really been happy with the way it looks) - I didn't rebuild, but I just retextured. It's made a hell of a difference! Hopefully more expensive/exclusive looking - I am trying to sell jewellery here after all :)

I'm much happier with this look! (In the background, you can just see one of Lash Xevious's fabby statues, great view from the doorway) I think I'm going to lose the bargain basement - I'm running out of prims, and I'm not sure how useful it is anymore. I'll probably make a bumper box of clothes for L$1 or something, same with all the old jewellery that's down there. We'll see, I won't worry about it until I'm desperate for prims again.

Bah, Humbug

It's December 7th, less than three weeks to Christmas. Usually by now I'd be full of the festive spirit, walking round humming carols and annoying the hell out of everyone. This year though.. I dunno what it is, I just can't get that feeling. Maybe it's because I'm out of work this year, and I'm ready to start talking to the walls. Maybe because my friend was in a horrible accident a couple of weeks ago and is only just starting to recover. Maybe because I can't put the Christmas tree up until our new carpet has been delivered and fitted. All my presents are bought, hopefully I'll start feeling more festive when I wrap them. I'll chuck the xmas CD in the player, get the mulled wine going and force myself to be Christmasy!

Until then, I can amuse myself with this.. The worst xmas carol evah! And I really do mean it... make sure you listen right to the end, it's.. undescribable! Thanks to The Sneeze, one of my favourite blogs!

Free Stuff!

I know I haven't blogged much lately, the time I have spent in SL has mostly been setting up rental locations and spending quality time with friends :) And I think I needed a little break from building.

But I'm back (ish!) and to celebrate, I've put a couple of brand new freebies out in my Butsu store!

First we have a classic pair of diamond stud earrings, featuring large square cut diamonds and a little sparkle :)

And second, a pair of rubik's cubes! This just seemed like a good idea at the time *grins* But hey, they're free, go grab yourself a pair and remember the 80's!

Temporarily mislaid!

I've not been around much lately, either in SL or blogging. My back is still very painful, which limits the amount of time I can spend sitting infront of a monitor. I've also got a bit of RL work to do (yay, income!) and that's keeping me amused for the past week or so :) I'll be back!

The whole CopyBot thing blew up over the past day or two. It's depressing. The items I make are particularly at risk, due to them being pretty much unscripted attachments (bling scripts don't count, because there are umpteen million floating around the grid anyway). I have no wish to spend hours making intricate items just to have some asshole click a button and make a full perm copy. I really haven't felt like logging in in the time I do have available... *shrugs* maybe a few days away will help.

Bah.

'For Him' necklaces and rings

The first official releases into the new 'For Him' range (I know I made the men's inset rings, I'll have to repackage those to match) are a couple of necklaces plus the rings I posted about here. I'm really pleased with the necklaces, I'm tempted to shrink one down so my normal avi can wear it!

Sunburst Necklace

A black leather thong, threaded with chunky silver beads. Features a round silver pendant carved with a sunburst design. Comes with a matching bracelet. I didn't do bling versions of this, it just didn't seem right.

Talon Necklace

The same black leather thong and silver bead design, but this time with a talon suspended at the bottom.

'For Him' range formally released

So, I've just finished the forum post formally introducing a new range called 'For Him'. I made a couple of new necklaces for the guys, and I decided I wanted a box style that differentiates them from the ladies stuff. After all, most of my womens jewellery is pretty, delicate, floaty and well... girly! So far, the men's has been chunkier, simpler, sleeker designs, and much more monotone due to just using silver. I dunno... I just can't get used to the idea of making gold jewellery for men. I'll break myself in gently, using hints of gold here and there I guess :)

Anyway, I wanted a box design that reflected the jewellery. I've been using the same style of box for 18 months or so now, and there are a few problems with it. Having the border where it is loses me a lot of box space, plus it's totally the wrong colour (being gold!). The Cailyn's logo is too hmm... well elegant and feminine for what I want. And I've never really liked the hand-drawn permission marks, just I never got around to changing them.

So, out went the logo, and I made a new one with the 'For Him' name. The border was dragged out right to the edge of the box, and recoloured silver. I've repositioned the permissions, got rid of the ticks and crosses, and just put silver dots in to show which are allowed. I've also decided to stick with just one font across the range; that will help to tie it all together. And finally, for big pieces, I've added a polaroid style photo to show the model wearing the item. This has the advantage of defining a space for the picture, I can crop photos wherever I like and it won't look strange because it has the edge around it (so I could zoom in on an ear & earring, for example). I'm very happy with the result, and it has retained enough elements to still look related to the women's line.

Eventually, I'd like to split my store in three - a section for women, a section for men, and a wedding section. That's a fair way in the future though. I'm trying to decide now whether to lose the clothes and accessories, and just focus on jewellery. I won't be making any more clothing, I lost the urge to do that a long time ago. I'm happy slinging prims around :) The recent island price increase debarcle have made me wonder how long mainland tiers will stay the same. LL have been mentioning Feb 1st as a possible date for price increase announcements... I guess nothing will change before then. But should the price go up, I'll be tiering down, and that means just focusing on jewellery :(

I had a really nice review of my inset rings over at Men's SecondStyle, so now I'm totally inspired to make tons of stuff for the guys! I'm going to try a necklace next, I'm thinking silver and black leather. yummmm.

Aren't I a cutie? *laughs* I decided I needed a male avatar for making mens jewellery and for doing some adverts. I've tried using alts to build with but however careful I am I always end up with permission problems *sighs*, so I have to use my main account.

So this is Carl, my alter-ego. I've tried to make him as average (shape-wise) as possible - I couldn't resist prettying him up a bit though! After all, I'm the one that has to stare at him while I work *grins*

Anyway, he's mostly the work of Naughty Designs (hair, skin, shirt & jeans), the shape is by me, and the boots by Shiny Things. He's actually just the male version of my normal shape, tweaked a bit to um.. 'bloke-ify' him! Oh, and the pose is from Anomations. It's really hard to find decent male poses - I'll have to break out poser again.

Is it unhealthy to drool over your own avatar? *giggles*

Tired and grouchy

I'm tired. I'm grumpy. Six or seven years ago I slipped a disc in my back, ever since then it reoccurs every so often. Yesterday was one of those times. Painkillers dull it to a manageable throb, but they also make me sleepy. And the backache makes me grouchy because I can't get comfortable in any position. Being in SL is pointless right now, I can't concentrate for more than 5 minutes, I have no patience, and my moron-tolerance level is waaaay below zero. Grrr. I need sympathy and chocolate!

Enough moaning... here's another preview. It's a ring, called 'Banded' (I so need to employ someone to come up with names for me). The pic shows it in diamond & onyx, i've also got diamond & ruby, diamond & sapphire etc.

I've also got a tiara sitting 1/4 built - it's not coming out the way I wanted it too, so not sure what will happen with that. I usually just leave the partial build in my workshop until inspiration strike again - walk round my skybox and you'll bump into half-finished earrings, beads, and god knows what else (probably a few long lost rings too, if i drop them they are very hard to find again!)

Three posts in one day! eeek!

Anyway, it struck me today that since starting this blog, it's been my most productive month in SL since.. well since ever really. It's almost like I must produce things to have something to write about... I love posting pics of things I'm working on, I don't tend to get out much in SL so this is my way of showing off I guess ;)

All of today's items are boxed up, out in store, and listed on SLX and SLB. That's the Emiliana earrings, the mens insert rings, and a double insert ring that I had to add too. Why do I do this to myself? *laughs* I ended up adding 18 new items to SLX and SLB, which is sheer torture. SLB is a breeze, but using SLX feels like I'm forever waiting, scrolling down, waiting, scrolling down... bleugh. On the other hand, I prefer the search functions at SLX, so when I'm buying I head there first. *shrugs* I did see a post from Flipper on the main SL forums saying that the buying side of SLB is due an overhaul... lets hope it's soon!

It's now just over a week since I rented a mall spot (see here) and so far, it's a dismal failure. Not even a single sale. I think it was a poor location really.. my spot was well away from the teleport port. Undeterred, I'm trying again, this time in the JD Mills sim. Fingers crossed for this one!

Men's Rings!

And while I'm on the subject of being different from my usual style... I made some men's rings! Yikes! My first ever men's stuffs.
Hopefully the colours aren't too girly (I did consider making a pink one *grins*) They come with my usual subtle sparkle script, or a plain unsparkly version (box will contain both).

These will be available later today, once I've made all the box pics up.

I'd like to make more men's stuff, but I'm a little lost here. My other half in RL doesn't wear jewellery at all, nor do my male friends (apart from the odd tongue piercing). I'll be wandering through a few web sites looking for inspiration - but if there are any guys reading this, feel free to leave suggestions :)

New Earrings - Emiliana

Something a little bit different from my usual style! (do I have a usual style?) I love earrings like this in RL, but I usually can't wear them - anything but gold makes my ears puff up and itch like crazy :( But in SL, anything goes!

These are called Emiliana, and they come in six colours - white, red, orange, pink, blue (box pic) and green (shown left). Each colour has the black beads for contrast. Fun fashion earrings, perfect for dressing up jeans and a jumper.

Serenity Released

New Toy

I have a love of bright, shiny things (I think I was a magpie in a previous life!), and also of abstract art. I stumbled across this great freeware application called Chaoscope that allows you to create your own 3D neon glowy fractal-ish pictures. I've been sitting here for over an hour now creating my own masterpieces!
It's all very mathmatical and I could never hope to understand how it all works, but there is a very simple tutorial that gets you started - after that, experimenting is easy :)

I've decided to call this one 'Serenity', because every bride should be serene on her wedding day! It's made up of moonstones, diamonds and silver wire, and I'm very pleased with it so far. There will be matching earrings for it too.

Randoms

Housework sucks. Whether it's in RL or SL. I spent most of my time yesterday rearranging the Butsu store so that I have more wall space. It looks a lot more organised now, so I'm glad I did it, but boy, was it tedious! And on top of that I updated the notecards in over 100 boxes... *yawns*

I had a strange IM overnight. Someone wants to open a jewellery store, and wants to purchase some of his inventory from me. I'm not sure what to make of that. I do all the hard work, then you make the profits? um... no thanks! I kind of understand he's thinking like the RL model - you open a store, trot down to the wholesalers and pick up boxes of whatever... but in SL, once you have something, you can sell as many as you like forever. I really don't like the idea of someone else having full permission copies of my stuff (bar one or two trusted friends, of course :)

I've also had a couple of folders of photos from models looking for work. One looked very slick and professional, the other, well, didn't :P Either way, I don't tend to use models for my ads or box pics, partly because I work odd hours (I'm most active around 2-6am SL time), partly because I tend to do things like that on a whim, and partly so I can control everything about the picture. So I'm a control freak, bite me :P

My BLOTTD (Big List Of Things To Do, thank you Lindens!) is growing bigger by the day. I've ideas for a wedding range (opals, moonstones and diamonds!), more necklaces, rings & earrings, plus several items that have been sitting half-finished in my black hole of an inventory for months. I've also got some unreleased furniture that I want to make better anims for (I haven't touched Poser for ages!). I did try making hair a little while ago, I don't think it's good enough for public release though! *grins* I want to redo the textures to add more shine; it's also got some serious alpha issues. Shame, coz I love the feathery look alpha textures give. It will get redesigned at some point in the future!

So, today is update day again. We won't be getting web profiles this release (see here) which is a shame, it's the first 'shiny' in a long time that I've been looking forward to. Still, it's good that LL are finally realising that releasing features before they are ready is not a clever thing to do.

Enough rambling, I'm off to go build!

New Store Open

I've got a new store location, at Ocean City Mall in the Trouble sim. This is me dipping my toes into mall rentals and seeing how things sell :)

All of the new rings & earrings are available here. And I spent fecking ages putting them all on SLBoutique earlier today. I lost the will to live before updating SLX though. Maybe tomorrow. Or Wednesday...

This one is called 'Circles', it should be obvious why :) (yeah, i suck at naming things.) It looks a deceptively simple design, but believe me, it was a pain in the ass getting them all lined up correctly!

I'm starting to plan a big release for all these rings and bits now. An idea for the ads is forming, I just need to see if I can build it in SL.

I've also got a half-finished set that uses coloured moonstones, so far I have a ring, bangle and bracelet done. I'd abandoned these a couple of months ago when I couldn't think of any ideas for a necklace to go with them, but now, (thanks to watching 'Wife Swap' of all things!) I've got an idea to work with. Unusually for me, I've set the stones to shiny. I think it works well on this particular style. (It still looks good without though!)

Lastly, I've done the matching earrings for 'Cubed'. I'm definately only doing these in silver, the gold versions just looked weird. I've got seven different colours - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple (ooh, a rainbow!) and white.
